We got into the (small but cute) room late last night and immediately crashed.

Woke up and walked down the steep staircase to our host making homemade donuts and cappuccino and had set out an incredible spread for breakfast - I didn't even think to get a picture until we had already been eating.

"homemade" breakfast

We're staying above a restaurant (Tratorria de Enzo) and the quality of the food shows.

Tony

Our little neighborhood in Rome. We're in an alley above what we found out to be a pretty popular restaurant.

Gelato on the way to the Villa Medici.
Left: pistachio & dark chocolate
Right: cappucino & stracciatella

Mari

Stumbled upon some ruins on our way to the coliseum.

Trevi fountain - not pictured are the massive lines to walk up and toss in a coin.

Tony

The garden inside Villa de Medici garden and the facade + two towers of the Villa. Inside one of the rooms along the walls of the garden is a gipsoteca (a gallery with plaster models used for sculptures)

Tony

Sandwich at a bobby flay favorite. It's a walk-up shop with a single employee. Dude loves to joke around in English. Also loves Bobby Flay. Best sandwich I've ever had. 📍 Open in Google Maps

Tony

Then espresso and a cappucino at Augusto cafe. This was a cute little coffee bar / bookstore in Piazza Augusto Imperatore near the Mausoleum of Augustus.

Tony

heading back to the hotel to give our feet a brief respite

Mari

For dinner, we were exhausted after a long day of exploring so we decided to check out the restaurant below our hotel, Trattoria da Enzo. When we had walked back to our hotel there was already a line down the alley of people waiting for the restaurant to open. With our stay we were able to get a table right away and ended up sitting next to an older French couple who also was staying at our hotel. The restaurant was so lively and the space was really cool. We ordered the carbonara and amatriciana, and finished off with the tiramisu which actually made me a fan of tiramisu
